MARCH
ATP: Students will be graphing linear systems. They will learn to use substitution and elimination to solve systems of linear equations. They have started to collect data for the next round of our Mathematician Project. We have also started with the pre-conferences to go over their new goals.
Pre-Algebra:
The students will be working with percents, decimals, and fractions. They will be using percent proportion and percent equations to do problem solving. They have also started collecting data for our Mathematician Project. We will also be discussing new goals in a pre-conference.

FEBRUARY
ATP: Students have started a new chapter with solving inequalities. They will do this using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. This will lead to solving multi-step inequalities. They will also be conferencing with me about their Mathematician Goals and artifacts.
Pre-Algebra: The students will be working on identifying and calculating different types of angles including vertical, supplementary, and alternate exterior, etc. We will also work on a variety of geometric concepts including volume, surface area, and measuring lengths. They will learn how to make stem and leaf plots, and box and whiskers to display data. We are currently conferencing about their goals for our Mathematician Project.

JANUARY
ATP: Students are continuing their work writing linear equations. They have learned slope-intercept form, standard form, and point-slope form. They will use these in different combinations to problem solve real world examples. Using slope, the students will be able to write equations of parallel and perpendicular lines. They are continuing to work on their Mathematician goals.
Pre-Algebra: Students are starting to work on inequalities. They will learn to solve them with negative numbers and variables. The students will move onto solving multi-step equations and inequalities. The next chapter will begin with ratios and unit rates. The students are continuing with their Mathematician goals that they wrote prior to the holiday break.

DECEMBER
Pre-Algebra: We have started our school year learning to translate verbal phrases into numerical and algebraic equations and expressions. Using order of operations, students are then evaluating the equations. They are also studying properties of addition and multiplication.
Algebra: ATP students have started writing and solving equations and inequalities. They are evaluating these equations using order of operations. They will be representing functions as rules, in tables and in graphs.

November
ATP
Students are currently learning to rewrite equations and formulas. Our next unit of study is graphing linear equations. They will graph using the coordinate plane and with intercepts. This will lead into a study of slope and rate of change. The students will be conferencing with me to show their artifacts. This is the end of the first round of our Mathematician Project.
Pre-Algebra
We are finishing our study of rational numbers with adding and subtracting. In our next chapter, we are studying the distributive property, simplifying algebraic expressions and solving one step equations. The students will be conferencing with me to show their growth towards becoming a better mathematician. This is the end of the first round of our Mathematician Project.

OCTOBER
ATP
Students will be learning to solve one and two-step equations. This will lead to solving equations with variables on both sides. They will be using ratios and proportions to do problem solving. The students are currently working on their math goals for the Mathematician Project.
Pre-Algebra
Students will be writing fractions as terminating or repeating decimals. They will learn to identify, add, subtract, multiply, and divide rational numbers. With these concepts, students will evaluate algebraic expressions with fractions. Pre-Algebra students have also held conferences with me and are collecting data and artifacts towards making their goal for the Mathematician Project.
